British star-architect Zaha Hadid has joined forces with crystal house Lalique to create a pair of stunning vases called the Crystal Architecture collection. The range comprises two vases: Manifesto, a curved and ridged vessel that plays with texture, and Viso, a slender, aqueous tower. The contemporary designs, available as signed and numbered edition pieces, have been fabricated in both clear and black crystal, featuring fluid lines and a polished finish.
“I have always had a passion for glass and crystal, and started collecting pieces at an early age in a variety of shapes, sizes and colors,” says Hadid.
“The architectural language we have developed is a manifesto of our experimentation and research into fluidity and transparency.”
Hadid is renowned for her de-constructivist approach to architecture and is best known for incorporating natural forms into her designs.
“Opening this crystal glasswork to new artists allows its exceptional know-how to be interpreted with new eyes and with a fresh creative inspiration,” explained Lalique Chairman and CEO Silvio Denz.
The Zaha Hadid Manifesto and Viso vases will be available to purchase from Lalique stores in April. Prices start at €12,000 ($16,400).
